Well, slap me silly and call me Shirley.

It’s almost time for football, ergo fantasy drafts are rampant this time of year. And what better way of preparing for one than with the inaugural Daily Bruin Fantasy Football Draft Guide.

For the sole purpose of providing a little guidance, you will find here position-by-position rankings, commentary on every player, sleeper picks and overrated bums.

The following number of players have been ranked:

- 25 quarterbacks

- 25 running backs

- 50 wide receivers

- 12 tight ends

- 12 kickers

- 12 defenses

As a general tip, don’t just rely on these rankings. After all, I don’t want to receive hate mail in December about how your team has a 3-7 record.

It’s always good to expose yourself to multiple Draft Guides before formulating your own opinion, not to mention the fact that there exist multiple scoring systems in Fantasy Football.

These rankings are based on a rather common scoring system:

OFFENSE - 25 passing yds = 1 pt - passing TD = 4 pts - 10 rushing yds = 1 pt - 10 receiving yds = 1 pt - rushing/receiving TD = 6 pts - 2 pt conversion = 2 pts

DEFENSE

- turnover = 2 pts

- sack = 1 pt

- safety = 2 pts

- defensive or special teams TD = 3 pts

- shutout = 10 pts

- 2-6 pts allowed = 7 pts

- 7-13 pts allowed = 4 pts

- 14-17 pts allowed = 1 pt

KICKING

- 39 yd or less FG = 3 pts

- 40-49 yd FG = 4 pts

- 50 plus FG = 5 pts

- extra point = 1 pt

Quarter Backs Running Backs Wide Receivers Tight Ends Kickers Defenses

Hopefully you will find this Draft Guide of some use. Good luck in 2001 Fantasy Football and pray your team stays healthy.
