Nilsson breaks second school record this summer
UCLA junior and Swedish native Lena Nilsson established a new school record Aug. 13 in the 800-meter run in Malmo, Sweden. Her time of 2:02.26 broke teammate Tiffany Burgess’ record, set May 4 at Drake Stadium.
More recently, Nilsson won national titles in both the 800- and 1500-meter runs, with times of 2:04.85 and 4:17.73, respectively, while running at Sweden’s National Championships in Gavle, Sweden Aug. 17-18.
For Nilsson, it is her second school record in 43 days. On July 6 in Brunswick, Maine, she set a school record in the 1500m (4:12.60) at the New Balance Maine Distance Festival.
Nilsson will run for the Bruins this weekend against Cal State Fullerton in UCLA’s first cross-country meet of the season.
