This weekend, the Daily Bruin Editorial Board had the privilege of interviewing undergraduate student government candidates from both Students First! and Bruins United.

Excluding candidates that are running unopposed, we spent up to half an hour with each candidate, reviewing their respective platforms and both the short- and long-term goals they have for the Undergraduate Students Association Council.

Each candidate submitted a two- to five-page proposal about their specific issues, which the editorial board reviewed before the interviews. This process is done every year so that the Daily Bruin can help students understand their potential student government members and their plans for change.

Unfortunately, we were unable to interview the independent candidate for USAC president, Jeff Matt, because he failed to attend his interview.
