Letters to the editor

Calling it like it is

Editor:

This is in response to Sonja Gedeon's article "Toeing the Klan line,"

Oct. 31.

I am proud to be a conservative. If she had said to my face that as a

conservative I am an advocate of the Ku Klux Klan, it would have taken the

strength of every fiber of my being to restrain myself from breaking her

nose right then and there. There is political rhetoric, and there is

ignorant hate speech. Gedeon has engaged in the latter.

Her extrapolation of her experience with a "conservative" named John to

ALL conservatives is INSANE. As a conservative, most of my views are

derived from principles of responsible money management. This has

absolutely nothing to do with the racist ideology of the KKK!

Conservatives' vision for America is not based on racism. Gedeon should

put forth an apology for her insulting, slanderous propaganda. Gedeon's

brand of hate is deceptive and divisive. SHE and her kind are the ones who

inject the race factor into issues, NOT conservatives. She is a

disgrace.Michael C. MacNeil
