The only thing that could stop the UCLA softball team Thursday afternoon was the weather.
In the San Diego State Invitational, UCLA took a quick 11-0 lead over the host Aztecs before the game was suspended due to rain, with two outs in the bottom of the second.
The Bruins had racked up 13 hits behind a 3-for-3 performance by second baseman Laurie Fritz and two hits apiece from Christie Ambrosi, Julie Marshall, Alleah Poulson, and Stacey Nuveman.
Christa Williams was en route to pitching a no-hitter on the mound for UCLA, striking out five.
Weather permitting, the Bruins will resume the game Sunday in addition to the five other games scheduled.
The Bruins are slated to face Ball State, Illinois and Oregon today, Oklahoma State on Saturday and Oregon State Sunday.
This tournament was supposed to serve UCLA a preview of Pac-10 opponents Oregon and Oregon State as well as provide key inter-sectional match-ups.
"There is a wide range of talent at the tournament," UCLA head coach Sue Enquist said. "We'll get to size up some conference opponents early, and also some important out-of-region teams. It's always important to win out of region because the (NCAA tournament ) selection process often puts you next to other teams from out of the region."
