Calendar: Film & TV

“28 Days Later”

Ackerman Grand Ballroom

Today, 7 p.m. & 9:30 p.m.

Title aside, this isn’t a movie about February. It’s a scary zombie movie from Britain. While zombie films have historically been B-rated fare, this one is truly scary. If you want to have a Halloween-y night to get you ready for the real thing, British zombies may not be the first things that come to your mind, but they’ll do the trick. Tickets are $2 at the door.

“The Simpsons: Treehouse of Horrors XIV”

FOX

Nov. 2, 8 p.m.

XIV means there have been 13 treehouses we’ve already seen. Have the years really gone by that quickly? In this year’s annual “Simpsons” Halloween spoof, Homer takes over for the Grim Reaper, sparking comic mayhem as only “The Simpsons” can. You know you’ve seen the commercials, and you’re going to watch it, proving FOX right in saying that Halloween doesn’t really end until Matt Groening and company say it does.

“Elf”

Ackerman Grand Ballroom

Nov. 4, 8 p.m.

Just to prove that Christmas comes earlier every year, “Elf,” the first holiday movie of the season, will be released just a week after Halloween. Catch a free sneak preview by picking up passes in 319 Kerckhoff Hall, and don’t forget to leave your cell phones at home if you go, because they won’t let you take them into the movie. Nobody wants any documentation of Will Ferrell wearing that costume. No charge.
