News Brief: Stabbing Suspect Caught

A suspect in an October 2006 incident where someone was stabbed was arrested at the UCLA Store in Ackerman Union on Wednesday.

The victim was hospitalized but not seriously injured after being attacked on the steps of Kerckhoff Hall.

The suspect was arrested by university police for assault with a deadly weapon after the victim noticed him in the store, said Nancy Greenstein, director of police community services at UCPD.

According to Daily Bruin archives, the incident stemmed from an argument, which led to the suspect eventually stabbing the victim.

According to the California Penal Code, assault with a deadly weapon is punishable by up to four years in state prison, up to one year in county jail, a fine of up to $10,000 or a combination of a fine and imprisonment.
